Join us for the inaugural Dads & Lads Outside gathering filled with fun activities.
This adventure morning will take place at Oak Valley Farm between Malmesbury and Riebeeck Kasteel (about an hour’s drive from Cape Town) All dads/uncles and their sons/nephews are welcome. This is exclusive to dads and lads. Moms and daughters will be invited to join us for future special family events.
Dads & Lads Outside is designed for dads and their sons to spend valuable time together in nature, away from the busy and demanding daily life. These events aim to be fun and uplifting filled with great experiences and wisdom. It is also an opportunity for dads and lads to make new friends, connect and network with other dads and their sons. The events are also fundraisers for the Green Sport Foundation non-profit and your participation and contribution are appreciated.

Age:
Boys, five years and older can join with their dad/uncle.
Activities:
- Karp and Bass fishing (If you don’t have a rod let us know and we will see if we can arrange one) You don’t have to know anything about fishing, we will teach you.
- Scavenger hunt
- Swimming (optional)
- Other fun activities
- Braai
- Discussion on our roles as fathers and sons in the family.
What to bring:
- Fishing gear and bait for Karp and Bass fishing.
- Charged phone with the Google Earth App downloaded. You will need this for the scavenger hunt. We will show you how to use it.
- Comfortable clothes and running/hiking shoes (check weather).
- Dry clothes and towel (if you want to swim in the dam).
- Hat/sunscreen as required.
- Water and snacks.
- Food and drinks for the braai (we will supply the fire and grid).
- Cutlery and crockery for the braai.
- Nearest toilet is 4kms away. Bring toilet paper if you have to do a ‘veltie’.

Once you are registered and have made payment you will be added to the Dads & Lads Outside WhatsApp group for further communication.
Event FAQs
We suggest a reasonable fitness base. Fitness depends on the activity and how competitive you are. We mostly do fun activities, but there is a level of competitiveness in some activities. You must be healthy to participate. We don’t have a problem if you sit out on some of the activities if you find it too strenuous.
Sometimes our events are in remote parts, away from hospitals. We have a medic kit at each event and can apply basic first aid. For more serious emergencies an ambulance will be called on your behalf and for your cost.
Please ensure that all chronic and emergency medication (such as asthma pumps) is brought along and that you advise the organizer of any medical conditions before the start of the activities.
Green Sport Foundation, its staff, or any associates cannot be held liable for loss, damage, death, or medical conditions/accidents arising from these events.
By registering to participate in any event we present, you indemnify (in agreement with the other parties in your group) the Green Sport Foundation, its staff, or any associates against any loss, damage, death, or medical conditions/accidents arising from these events.
Kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
